Hi Everyone!
So here’s the deal. We need a new sofa. Like yesterday.
We’ve been debating for well over a year now about what kind of couch we want to get this time around. Our current sofa was mine prior to me and sweet Naomi meeting. It was in great condition when we moved in together so it was definitely staying. I loved this couch. It was the first time I had “custom” ordered anything. I picked the color, fabric, style, everything. I chose a neutral tan color, easy rider microfiber fabric, down filled construction. It took 10 weeks for someone to hand make it, but it was worth the wait. The best thing about it is right from the beginning its been incredibly comfortable. Our overnight guests argue over who gets to sleep on the couch kinda comfortable. Your body melts in its mouth kinda comfortable….
Not such a great analogy, but you get what I’m sayin. Its literally falling apart at the seams now and its driving us crazy. The back cushions have lost their shape, no matter how much you fluff and adjust them they sag nonetheless, and my sweet Naomi finds herself sewing the cushion seams back together quite regularly. Its time to let go.
We’ve considered every kind of sofa you can think of as a replacement-a sectional, something leather, something slipcovered, perhaps a daybed style….the only thing we know for sure is that whatever we end up with CANNOT have removable seat back cushions!
We are slowly narrowing it down, but there’s one sofa I’m totally in love with. Is it practical? I don’t know. Is it comfortable? No idea. Is it gorgeous? Absolutely.
Enter the Chesterfield.
Back when I first discovered it I had no idea what the “technical” name of it was. To me it was the couch that Rachel and Heck bought in the movie Imagine Me & You. It was love at first sight for me (both the movie and the couch). Not so much for Naomi (the couch that is, she actually loves the movie). So what else is new.
I’ve been seeing this couch everywhere lately and I everytime I do, I want it more and more. It’s super versatile and can work with many different aesthetics. From super eclectic spaces (my personal fav), to more modern and streamlined interiors (Naomi’s cup of tea). They come in an array of finishes and are popping up more and more in today’s interiors. While my other half tends to think they belong in a cigar-smoke filled library, I beg to differ.
Who knows what kind of couch we will end up with. For now I’ll just enjoy oogling over all of its beautifullness (that is a word, right?)
