Hi Everyone!!
Today I’m super excited to be debuting a new series here on AHFOC: Treasure Hunting Thursdays. To say I’m addicted to thrift stores, antique furniture store, consignment shops, and flea markets is a MONUMENTAL understatement. I heart them so much. Like, SO MUCH.
I call my little excursions treasure hunts. I find myself on one of them at least once or twice a week so I decided I may as well document my treasure hunting adventures and share the love with you guys! I know, I know…no need to thank me!
So, who’s ready for a little treasure hunting goodness today?! Ok..Ok..you pulled my arm! My recent adventure led me to a truly marvel of a place here in Sacramento called the 57th St. Antique Mall.
Its basically a series of shops and a facility with many booths rented by different sellers offering everything from furniture to doilies. I found some really great things while there and even picked up a few things, too. See if you can figure out what I went home with on this trip. I’ll reveal my new treasures at the end. If you follow me on Instagram you’ve already seen a sneak peek at my adventure. If you aren’t one my Instagram friends, you should totally be one (find me @ahomefullofcolor). FYI this is a loooong one so please bear with me. Alright so here we go…. (some images are taken with my iphone and others are snapped with my good camera)
Right away I spotted some vintage pyrex mixing bowls and baking dishes. I asked one of the sellers if she was willing to keep an eye out for a mint green set for me.
While we are on the topic of kitchens I oogled over these vintage cast iron pots and pans. My most coveted pans is cast iron. I cook with it for every meal. If you aren’t cooking with cast iron cookware, you’re seriously missing out. Older cast iron is much more special because it has been well seasoned for years and years.
KitchenAid, eat your heart out
Vintage spice tins anyone?
I fell in love with this beautiful mid century dresser
While we are on the topic of mid century furniture. These were pretty great too
Is there anything better than the smell of an old book? I think not
An ode to Duck Dynasty! If you aren’t watching that…you should be.
What ya’ll know about trolls, though? What What!!
Oooh remember when marbles were the IT thing! Having a jar full of marbles was such a token of how badass you were. The cat eyes were the BEST
Kids nowadays have NO IDEA!! Xboxes, Ipods, Wiis…pish posh! Back in the day there were these
If collections are your thing, I ran into plenty of treasures
These would make awesome chandy’s
What an inventive way to utilize another vintage birdcage
This carved screen was a treat for the eyes
