Hi Everyone!
Who here agrees with me and thinks that’s almost the best. movie. ever! Ahhh, good times. But, I digress.
Today I wanted to show you a glimpse of our office space. Its a humble little area behind the couch, and like most other areas of our home, is a constant work in progress. I was compelled to share it because, well, I want you guys to really get to know me. To me that means, sharing with you all how I live and function day to day within our home and (if you’re part of my instafam) out in the world.
I already showed a little snippet of the office action on Instagram yesterday when I entered the Design Love Fest office giveway.
If you haven’t entered you should! Her office space is pretty much perfection, to me. Its so light and fun and fresh and modern and colorful and quirky and basically everything that my space is NOT! The chance to win some of her office goodies was just too tempting to pass up. Oh and her blog is so inspiring. I just love it.
Now, don’t get me wrong, our little work corner does the job. I love the location of it behind the couch. I had an epiphany one day and decided to give it a try and ended up loving it so much we kept it here. Previously it lived in the front room, then the guest room, then it did a short stint as a cloffice. It just never felt right in any of those locations, so I opted to integrate it into the family room.
Since we don’t work from home, we don’t need a ton of dedicated office space and we don’t have extensive storage needs, either. I love that the kids can be on the computer and we can easily stalk supervise their Internet behavior. Plus it provides a great place to blog, pay bills, etc all while still being connected with the kitchen and family room where all the life happens in our home.
We are using our daughters old desk for now, but plan on replacing it with either an antique desk or a parson style desk. Either way, we will be getting something a bit smaller. I think this one is a little too big. Plus we will be putting a small game table in the corner next to it so every inch counts. Id also like to find a project chair that I can revamp. At the moment I’m using a faux fur throw to cover the not-so- pretty chair we are using for the time being.
I would also love to get some lacquer trays to house the desktop necessities and pretty boxes to corral my thank you notes, chargers, pens, etc.
All in all I would love to see this area get a large dose of Shavonda! Slowly, but surely it’ll get there. So what does your office space look like? Are you a laptop on the kitchen island kinda person? Are you fortunate to have a whole room dedicated as an office? Id love to hear where you compute. Until next time….

I would’ve love to have an office space in our living room but with my super curious 22 month old boy; this won’t happen anytime soon! 🙂 Your office space looks cozy and perfect that’s next to everything! I have mine upstairs; it’s my craft room but I’m always away from everyone

I know what ever you do to tweak it will be amazing 🙂 I love having my desk in the living room now too. So close to the action and not hiding in another room 😉 xo Kristin

How great that your worked your office space into your living area and I so stalk my son when he’s on the laptop at the kitchen table! I’m a laptop pretty much anywhere type of girl, sometimes I’m blogging from the sofa other nights in bed, then I just put in on the nightstand and I’m good.

Haha! Good to know in not the only stalker mom! We had to get a desktop in our house. Every laptop we ever bought somehow got killed by the kids:)

Its nice that you have a designated office space. Looks nice already! I like the lamp and your plant pot. I am a laptop on the sofa kinda girl. No office in my small house, not even room for a desk.

Thank you ma’am! The lamp and the pot were both scores from a treasure hunt I went on.:)

I think your desk looks great already. I have two office/desk spaces…one for me and one where my husband dumps all his stuff 😉
