Hi Everyone!!
What day is it? HUMP DAAAY YEAH!! (in my awesome gieco camel voice). Sorry I just had to go there. Best. Commercial. Ever.
So my rearrangitis has flared up again, my friends. Our family room no longer looks like this
Let me explain guys. You see, I am nomadic by nature. I crave change. Honestly, I blame my parents. I was an Army brat growing up. We never lived in one place longer than about 4 years. Then upon graduation, I too joined the military and thus the moving continued. I learned at a very early age to embrace change, so now that I’m settled in one place its really really difficult for me not to get bored easily. Unfortunately, I’ve become dependent upon change.
I love our home, our community, and our town, and we will definitely be here for a while. Since I cant physically change where I’m at, my solution is to change my surroundings. I just feel rally really bad for Naomi. She’s so amazing and just goes with me on it. Nothing surprises her anymore.
Anyway, yesterday I thought it may be a good idea to “just for the heck of it” see what it would look like if I moved the game table into the front room.
*none of these pictures have been edited. They came straight from the camera into this post. just taking you guys through my thought process visually*
We have already dedicated the front room as the entertaining/game room so the table was going to end up in here eventually anyway. I actually really like. The scale is perfect.
There’s an empty space between the windows where I’m planning to place a MCM console table and use it as a bar and to hold my record player.
I’m thinking something very very similar to Cassie’s beauty she just revamped.
My oh my its beautiful. I just love how her room is coming together. Those moody walls are just so lovely.
This is what our front/entry room looks like as of 2 minutes ago
Yes, I know I JUST created a cute office nook and took pretty pictures and posted it and everything. Don’t be too upset with me guys. Its actually quite nice and I have a bit more room since its not tucked in the corner. I brought in my goodwill rescue chair. I’m patiently looking for the perfect fabric to have it reupholstered.
Now there’s just the issue of what I like to call the “landing strip” aka that random space behind the couch
Its kind of walkway right now and I like that its basically a big circle in the room which is great for traffic flow.
Some of you may be wondering why I don’t just move the couch back up against the wall? Well, two reasons. First, there’d be way too much space between the couch and the tv if I do. We have a 42 inch ( I believe) and the optimal distance between the couch and the screen for that size is around 63 inches. I used this article as a reference in case you want to give it a try. And Second, I just don’t like it.
Our couch where it is is 100 inches away, which is still a lot further than whats optimal, but this feels like a good distance. Not too close, not to far.
The baking cup art also found a new home in the hall.
Our home is a constant evolution and I like it that way. I think that’s the beauty of it all….to keep tweaking and tweaking until you get it just right.
So, have you been rearranging lately? Until next time…

I couldn’t agree with you more! We’re in only 700 square feet so there’s only so much I can do…that worries me…

Lol…that camel hump day commercial always makes me laugh. It’s my favorite right now. And I’m absolutely loving what you did with the front room. Love the table there, the mint bookshelves and a piece like Cassie’s would be perfect in between the windows! You are on the right track! I love it!

I love that green bookshelf on the dark walls! Your house looks great! I think it is great to move things around! It keeps it fresh! I always buy things for a particular place and rarely does it ever end up where I bought it for!!
Happy rearranging! You have the ol’ “ittis” that never passes!!

I’m sure you’ll come across a lovely MCM credenza soon!! I’ll keep my eyes out 🙂 My mom loves re-arranging furniture too, lol ~ once I find my ‘sweet spot’ in the a room I usually leave the big items as is, but love moving art and other stuff around

First I would like to say I too love that commercial! Hump Daaaaaay! Lol! Rearrangitis – girl I have that too! I second what Julia said, Naomi should do a guest post. I am still crushing on your entryway wall!

I love all of your paint colors and love for rearranging. I have that disease too!

Haha, rearrangitis…love it. And the game table looks great in the new location. You totally need a MM sideboard too.
And you know what? I think Naomi should write a guest post one day 😉

1) agreed, hump day is one of the best commercials of all time
2) we have a common affliction, the rearrangitis … can’t tell you how many times hubby has said to me “that’s already been there” and I’ve replied “well, but not with *that* there” … good thing Naomi understands
3) please tell me the name of the mint paint on the back of your bookcases
4) you and Cassie are both making me feel like I should take our mid-century credenza out of storage, paint it, and use it
5) my hubby actually tracked down some drawer pulls that fit our kitchen cabinets 🙂 thank you soooo very much for your sweet offer of help
6) would some type of folding screen, like aged shutters or an oriental screen, just slightly opened to have a dimensionality on the wall behind the sofa without obstructing the great traffic flow you have work? just a little something that takes up a couple inches but not as much as a piece of furniture. Or aged orchard ladders. Something like that. Just an idea.
