Hi Everyone!
Sarah, I hope you don’t mind I sorta kinda-ish borrowed your blog title for the day?!
I want to first say thank you all so very much for all of your sweet comments and responses to yesterday’s post. I appreciate them and you all more than you know. Even though I’ve never met any of you in person, with the exception of you Katrina;), I felt the love. You all are the best. Hopefully the majority of you are still with me!
So you know how you have those really good thrifting days? That day when you happen upon the very thing you were looking for, or perhaps you find the thing you never knew you wanted until you that moment. Yesterday was that day. I stopped in to Goodwill while out running errands and came across this awesome coffee table
I tell you this thing stopped me in my tracks! It was heavy, in great structural shape, had great lines, tons of potential and was only $15.99! SOLD. Plus its generously sized at 54×30 and I noticed the top could be removed by screws underneath the bottom. Right away I knew what I envisioned for it: tufted ottoman.
I had been contemplating for a long time replacing my beloved trunk we are currently using as a coffee table, with an oversized tufted ottoman. My kids are totally still in the “run into things even though they’ve been there for years” stage, plus we really like to prop our feet up and get way too comfortable when we watch tv, so I thought an ottoman would be a good way to soften things up a bit and potentially prevent a trip to the doctor for stitches one day!
Saturday night I pinned a few pictures of some I really like

Linen all the way!! The fabric choices far outnumber the color choices & you can always add a large laquer tray on top for the “shine ” you want!! Table is a fab find btw 😉

love the linen! I was just about to buy a new coffee table off of Craigslist but I resisted the urge. I’m looking for something much larger like yours. What an awesome find!

Tufted ottoman for sure. (I love the look of the lacquer but it is too sharp and pointy for real living.)

Borrow away!! 🙂 I vote for linen too because I’m a huge fan of gettin cozy on the couch with a nice and comfy foot rest. Although I am obviously a sucker for lacquer, it sounds like an upholstered ottoman is the way to go for your family.

Linen!!! That table is the BOMB!!! That is such a great find. It doesn’t matter what you choose to do with it, it will be fresh either way. Can’t wait to see what the after will be!

Linen – so cozy!

Love your inspiration pictures….yesterday when we were texting I was leaning towards lacquer can’t go wrong with shine! lol – but now I’m thinking fabric would be so freaking amazing 🙂

I don’t think you can wrong with either one!

Linen!

Hm… I’m on the fence. But if tufting was your original gut instinct, I’d go with that!
Cassie @ Primitive & Proper says
linen!!! i love the first ones so much more and they look cozy! you have so many great modern pieces that i feel like the cushy linen would offset that and balance beautifully!

First off, I need to move somewhere that has better thrift store donations, I mean, around here that table would be sold at a consignment store, Great find. I actually converted a coffee table to a upholstered ottoman some time ago, even though there are no kids around here bumping into furniture. Just two adults who like to lounge in chairs more than properly sitting in them. Plus the fabric adds opportunity for pattern / texture too. Now keep in mind I want to recover mine and I can’t find any fabric I like for it, so that could be an issue, but probably not for you!

The person I’m worried about most is the husband because he is a klutz LOL. Me having had an ottoman previously would say go with the lacquer because the fabric is hard to keep clean but the ottomans sure look beautiful.

hmmmm…that is a tough one. Maybe do the lacquer and if you don’t like it do the tufted table…xo Kristin
