Hi Everyone!
I hate to be the bearer of panicky news here guys, but there are only two more months til Christmas. Dun dun duuunnnnnn. I mean, seriously can we just slow down time for a bit. October totally snuck up on me which means its really time for me to face facts that summer is no longer upon us. Le sigh.
So how many of you have heard of Amy Howard At Home? No? Well I’m here to tell you this is a name you will want to remember. Y’all know I’m a sucker for a crisp glossy piece of furniture so when I had the opportunity to try out her furniture lacquer paint I was beyond thrilled. Yep you read that right: Furniture Lacquer Paint, well spray paint to be exact.
I first heard of this product from one of my blog besties Jesse over at Scout and Nimble. Her piece was so fab and glossy and yummy. It definitely had me intrigued. I’m not gonna lie guys, my immediate thought was that there was no way this was actually a lacquer in a can. I honestly assumed it’d be like all the other gloss spray paints I’ve used in the past. Plus you guys know when it comes to furniture I’m an oil girl all the way. I have to admit, I’m totally eating those words because this stuff is LEGIT guys.
Seriously, it like magic in a can. It comes in 14 gorgeous colors, but I chose a super saturated red for my project. I had been wanting to introduce red into the mix somehow and I figured this was the perfect opportunity.
Much like this paint isn’t your average gloss spray paint, this primer isn’t your average spray primer either. You guys know I am a loyal Zinsser Cover Stain girl, but this product is the perfect compliment to the lacquer and I would never use any other primer with it. It is designed and formulated to work with the lacquer and I could tell why immediately. Where typical primers are a bit rough and chalky, this actually has a smooth silky finish to it. Its made to fill in grainy type woods and provide a smooth surface for the lacquer to lay on so its gonna be perfect for woods such as oak . The spray consistency of it reminds me of milk, but it dries smooth and really feels like silk to the touch. After just 30 minutes drying time it was ready for color. I gave it 2 coats of spray, letting it dry an hour between coats.
