Hi Everyone!
Happy Monday loves! So how many of you also spent at least a small portion of your weekend tearing down the last bits of Christmas and safely packing it away til 11 months from now? I was sad to strip down the tree and box up the tinsel, but it feels good to have the house back to normal again.
The only thing about taking down the decorations is sitting back and suddenly realizing how bare your walls are. Well, maybe it was just me? Then again, most of my walls were bare before the holiday décor went up! But I digress..
Last year I struggled with finding meaningful things to fill our family room walls with so for the most part they remained empty. The baking cup art and gold polka dot plate art eventually found spots elsewhere in the house so once again that left the walls empty.
The area that gave me the biggest issue was the spot above the TV media center. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what to do with it. I didn’t want to do anything to draw too much attention since the TV is the true focal point of that space, but at the same time it needed something.
I remembered my good friend, Jesse, sent me a great piece of remnant Ikat fabric a few months back and I had been trying to find a place for it.
At first I thought Id take on a small reupholstery project, but when I picked up two big frames for $10 at Ikea in the As-Is section I knew exactly what do with it.

Looks great Shavonda! Fills the space well without taking over.

I have MORE THAN A FEW empty walls. I love what you did with that space above the television. Perfect and budget friendly! I have “wall space filling” on my to do list this month. My walls have been bare far too long. Love your blog!

The fabric in a picture is perfect for art on the fly! Many walls in my house are empty for the same reason your are. One day I will fill the walls, hopefully it’s before my husband does. 😉

Well I have ALL empty walls. But you know why 🙂 I think you hit this well – soft and pretty and definitely not competing with everything going on underneath.

Loving the framed fabric, perfectly subtle yet and standout! & yes I have far too many blank walls staring back at me, but lots of plans to change it 🙂
