Hi Everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend friends. Things are back to “normal” around here since the kids are back in school after a week’s vacation.
Those of you who follow me on IG know I had a random A-Ha Moment this weekend. I was sitting down to enjoy my new issue of House Beautiful
when I was suddenly inspired by the way the color of my nails complimented all the navy tones in this room.
I instantly determined I had found one of the major color schemes for the new house. Ya’ll know navy is my jam, and I love the way the lavender/lilac-ey tones play alongside it. Many of you may not know this but purple is my actually favorite color. Coincidentally, lavender is Naomi’s favorite color, so this is one design decision that didn’t take much coaxing from me for her to get on board. I never got the chance to use it much in our current house, but it’ll be a major part of the picture in our home next time around.
I still can’t quite put a label on exactly what direction we are heading in but I can tell you the colors are all over the place. I’m talkin navy, lilac, charcoal, teal, chartreuse, pink, mint, with a nice dose of neon, copper, and black. If I had to describe it Id’ sum it up as colorful-eclectic-relaxed-bungalow-midcentury-vintage cool. Yeah, I know- all over the place, right! My style is much like the way I cook. I usually just throw a-mess-a stuff in a pot and somehow it works together in perfect harmony and comes out great. I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel here. I know what works for me:)
This space also has navy/lilac thing going on and I love it
So how about it? Are you feeling it? Have I completely confused the heck outta you with my very loose description of my design style?
Until next time…..
Xo-Shavonda

Hi Shavonda, I just found your blog. At the age of 40 something I have suddendly became interested in fixing my house into home. It is so generic and blah but I want comfy and interesting (to me at least). Love the color combination and might use them to accent my bedroom. The first room I am redoing. I love color but have always been afraid of it. But so what if I mess up I just back up and punt. But thanks for the great ideas I have seen so far.

Love it! I’m doing my living room in very similar colors, because I already own a purple love seat and the focal point of my living room isn’t a TV, it’s a 120 gallon saltwater reef aquarium (i.e. how I stay sane between scuba diving trips). Looking forward to seeing the “after” – get going on that new house, ok? 🙂
Cheers! ~Liz

Well your blog IS called a home full of color. And that’s a whole lotta color you’re talking about! I know you’ll pull it together beautifully. And I love navy and lavender together. The navy instantly takes it from baby to chic!

Fabulous color combo! I had not yet seen the new HB, but I will tell you that that combo has sort of been on my radar too! I just had an armchair reupholstered in navy fabric, and though I’ve never been much of a purple person, I now find myself attracted to the entire range. For spring and summer, I think I’ll stick with my blues greens, and golds, but have been thinking I’d try a bit of plum in the way of throw pillows and the like. Anyway, feeling your love for the combo!

Love the second one too. I’ve been wanting a navy velvet upholstered something in my house and I love the lilac and leopard. You know me 😉

The first example feels to cold to me, but the second I love- so much more eclectic and fun!

I’m totally feeling it … currently working on navy, mint, charcoal and lavender / iris and touches of black / white prints in my dining room. A couple of weeks ago I bought a set of charcoal upholstered dining chairs and they plus my spring mint wall and navy rug set this color scheme in motion for me. You don’t even own your new house yet and I bet you finish your decorating using this scheme before I get my dining room done; seriously, I take forever finishing spaces!
