Hi Everyone!
Happy May my friends! Yesterday we bid adieu to our first home. We closed on the house in the afternoon, handed over the keys and walked away as non-homeowners.
To say this last 7 days has been BANANAS might be just a slight understatement. In just that short time we’ve found and signed a lease on an apartment, signed closing docs on the house (on the same day!), ordered a UNITS storage pod and had it delivered to the house, packed the majority of our belongings in it and had it picked up, rented a Uhaul to move anything not packed in the storage pod into the apartment, made countless trips to donation and recycle centers, made even more trips from the house to the apartment and back again, had a yard sale (sorta), sold stuff on Craigslist, and finally got the last box into our temporary quarters.
Taking one final walk through of the house was bittersweet, yet exciting at the same time. So many memories were shared in the house. I will forever be grateful for the joy we created within its walls. I am thankful for the time we shared there and am eagerly looking forward to our next adventure.
Now the real fun can begin. Lets find a house shall we! But first, I’d like to get a solid 7 hours of sleep. Oh, and also a massage. Naomi and I are both in need of some serious pampering. Did I mention we did all the aforementioned work by ourselves sans help! I can barely move right now, my back is killing me, and we have yet to start unpacking boxes in the apartment. Yeah…. about that. Like I said, BANANAS! I have no idea where my cups and plates are, but hey, we have Internet! Priorities my friends, priorities. Guess what I’ll be doing this weekend. Until next time…..

ps-I’ll be back early next week to share a tour of our temporary digs.

It’s an experience, huh? Hope you can get some much needed rest this weekend. I had the strangest feeling leaving our house, like it just hit me that no matter much love and time and work you put into a house, it’s always temporary. You’re always just the custodians for the next people. Doesn’t mean I’m not going to throw my whole self into this new house and live here for a damn long time, but I thought about the transience of it all more than I ever had before. Hope the next house crosses your eyes SOON!

As you know…I have my heart set on selling our too large for the two of us, house and buying a smaller fixer upper bungalow. I keep dropping “HINTS” to my hubby and telling him how great it would be. I can’t wait to see what you find and make yours. Congratulations on this new adventure! Belinda

Congrats on your smooth sale! And pats on the back for you moving everything yourselves. It’s so hard, but a good sleep and massage will fix it. And I can’t wait to see your new house, when you find ‘the one’. It certainly is bittersweet to leave a house you love, but you’ll get so excited for your new place it will fill the void. 🙂 Congrats, lovely!!
