Hi Everyone,
Happy Humpday my friends! I’ve got some exciting news to share: we found a house…and today is my birthday!! I may be slightly more pumped about the latter, since, as far as I’m concerned, my birthday is a national holiday. Anyway back to the house…
We found the one. Actually I found the one while my better half was at work, told her to trust me on this one, and somehow convinced her that we should put in an offer prior to her seeing it. Almost a week after having our offer accepted by the seller, we were able to view the property again yesterday and just as I had hoped, Naomi loves it! Lets just say that was a really long week for me….
There is a bit of a back story to the house though. First of all its a short sale. Our last house was also a short sale, so we are very well versed in what’s to come during this likely lengthy process. Now about that back story. The property came on the market weeks ago while we were on vacation for spring break, and within hours of it hitting the market was scooped up. We never even got the opportunity to really make it a possibility. But in the true fashion of the roller coaster ride that is the real estate market in CA, that deal fell through and the property came back on the market early last week. Wasting no time, my amazing realtor was able to quickly get me in to see it and it took me all of a minute and a half of being in the property to know it was perfect for us.
Not gonna lie…the house is a bit of a mess right now, though it may not look like it in the picture. It needs a good scrubbing, tons of landscaping, interior work, exterior work, a lot of paint and some TLC, but its a total gem. Its in our target neighborhood and it has tons of original details and character. It was built in 1954, and we learned yesterday that the house was originally used for officers quarters as military housing for the nearby Air Force base. As an Air Force veteran this couldn’t have come as a more pleasant surprise!
Its on a massive lot, comes in at just over 1300 sq ft (1309 to be exact), and is 3 bd 2 ba. Its a bit larger than we were looking for, but we’ll take it. Behind that overgrown brush there’s a cute little front porch…a detail that makes this southern native very happy.
Though we love the house we are keeping our emotions at a safe distance. In the short sale process the power is with the bank so even though the seller approved our offer, the bank has to as well. Once we get the green light from them, then we will allow ourselves to fully absorb the excitement of what’s to come. We are hoping to hear back soon. Fingers and toes and eyes and legs crossed….
Until next time..

*out of respect for the current homeowner I’m holding off on sharing interior shots of the house until we know for sure the house is ours. Once we do, I’ll show you guys what we’re workin with!
