Hi Everyone!
I’ve loved the look of overdye rugs for quite some time now. I had plans to DIY a version in our last house, but never got around to it before we moved. When it came to a design direction for the living room in our new house the only detail I knew for sure was that I really wanted to ground the space with layered rugs, and my vision included incorporating an overdye into the mix. When the kind folks over at Rugs USA offered up one of theirs I couldn’t say no. I decided to go with a tone on tone look, so I opted for the Windsor Overdye Grove in turquoise to compliment our teal walls.
When I received it I was so impressed that I actually purchased the jute rug I had sitting in my wish list for months. I caught it during one of their 60/70/80 sales and got the 8×10 for $206. That’s a major steal considering its size and that similar natural rugs can price close to $1000! Shipping was really fast and once we were finally able to lay them down after having the floors refinished I was incredibly happy. Its exactly the look I wanted and they are perfect together.
The jute rug is thick and chunky, and surprisingly really soft. It feels great underfoot and its perfect for hiding dirt which would work great in high traffic areas. It is a natural material so there is color variance, which I really like. Any loose fibers like you see here easily just tuck back into place.
The overdye feels very good underfoot as well, and since it already has a worn-in look I think its perfect for high traffic areas.
We still have a ways to go yet before this space is finished, but I think we’re off to a great start.
And because its Thursday and the weekend is just around the corner, how bout we celebrate with a giveaway, shall we?! Rugs USA is offering up a $200 gift card to one of my awesome readers. If you’ve had an item on your wishlist for months (like I did) or have been eyeing something for a while, this is the perfect opportunity to snag it. There’s a great sale going on right now as well so head on over and take advantage.
Entry is open to US residents only. The giveaway will run for one week and Ill announce the winner next Friday, September 27. Good luck everyone!
So tell me, do you like the look of layered rugs? Would you give overdye a try? Until next time…

That rug is so so beautiful and I love it layered on the jute rug. Love the texture of the jute rug and the warm color. What a beautiful pairing.

I’m loving how your home is coming along. It made me get off my butt and start unpacking mine (which I dread). I do like the look of layered rugs, but scared to try it in my space. I don’t quite know how to mix them to make it work and look cohesive.
Thanks,
Prissy

A really foolproof way to layer rugs. is to use a neutral base and colorful or patterned top layer. I like a natural rug (jute, sisal, etc) for the bottom and something fun for the top. Think kilim, oriental, patterened, global inspired. Its a combo that will ALWAYS work. Then you pull in accessories that compliment the colors in your rug.:)

Love the layered look! I’ve never seen it until now but I’m already a fan. I would love to win this giveaway, I have my eye on a couple of rugs and our living room rug is in desperate need of a replacement. We bought it at the same store we bought our couches and it sheds like crazy! 🙁

The only thing I’d better than an over dyed rug is a LAYERED overdyed rug. 🙂 this is gorgeous! I still think you should make one though. Dying to see how you’d do it!
