Hi Everyone!
Happy October loves. Now that October is upon us I reckon I can get on board with the idea that Autumn is actually here. We are still enjoying highs in the 80s and 90s, so its been a hard sell for me to start transitioning our home decor. Typically our notable shift in season here in Sacramento for me is Halloween.. that’s when the weather truly starts to feel like Autumn.
While Im not typically a seasonal decorator, I do lean toward heavier fabrics, richer colors, and lots of pattern and texture both visually and physically in the Autumn and Winter. During a recent trip to West Elm I was drawn to a pillow cover that encouraged me to change things up a little, so I changed up the textiles. Not a huge change, but enough to get me revved up for fall. I also picked up a couple ottomans at Target yesterday in the clearance section. They’ll get a new look, but I think they will be perfect for additional seating when we entertain.
Now about that corner.
It needs something…besides a new outlet and outlet cover. Seriously the previous owners were majorly committed to the burgundy paint. Im thinking a great reading chair and a floor lamp. Or maybe a reading chair and task lamp that’ll sit on the top shelf of the built-in. Not quite sure which way to go with the lamp just yet, but I know for sure this corner needs a great chair. Ive got my heart set on a Chesterfield side chair, but I also kinda want a statement piece as well.
I fell in love with Chesterfield sofas 7 years ago when I first saw Imagine Me and You. Anyway, Im thinking itll work in this space because they tend to be on the smaller scale. Here are a few options im mulling over..
I could also go with a reupholstery project, but honestly a lot of times that’s twice the cost of buying new once you factor in fabric and labor. Decisions, decisions.
What do you guys think? Until next time…

That blue chair is fantastic!! I like the idea of the chesterfield because it looks so comfy (like drape your legs over the side comfy) and the size seems perfect for your corner, not too tall to block the bookcases – like the blue one could potentially

Yes, I love the scale of the chesterfield too:)

Im really loving the chesterfield. We plan to eventually get a more modern, tailored sofa so the chester will offer a great juxtaposition between the two.

That chesterfield – the first one – would look amazing with that wall color. Love it. Those new ottomans are fantastic. I can’t wait to see how you change them up. What a stunning living room (I am so behind on your blog I am just realizing. It has stopped showing up in my Bloglovin feed. I just had to re-check that I am still subscribed, and I am… So strange…)

Hi Shavonda:
Your living room looks so, so comfortable and I love the color of the walls. Is that a dresser that you’re using for your TV? If you what a great idea, so much storage. When I upgrade to a larger screen TV I will have to replace the TV credenza that I now have and think that is a good alternative.

I’ve loved that blue chesterfield (the sofa and the chair!) for awhile now….but that modern blue chair is pretty fabulous, too!

I’m all about the Chesterfields so my vote is for one of those! Awkward corners are the worst, aren’t they? I have a couple and I’ve been doing a great job at ignoring them so far 😉

Hey Girlie!
So proud of you and Nay…I love the third chair, navy blue. Even that color will go well with your color pallet. And a great throw, maybe one with very bright and bold colors:). Coming to see the place soon!

I love the more modern blue chair, but obviously in a different color for your living room. It has an airy, young feel to it which seems to be like you! The Chesterfield is beautiful but heavier and older. I like the young vibe you have going in the living room. What is the color of your living room paint?

Hmm, what about moving your ottomans on either side of the TV and adding wall sconce lighting?

Mirror looks perfect. Love the first chair.

Looks so awesome and I love the large cutie on the floor. Are you about ready to participate in my pet series?
Love the first Chesterfield chair so much.
