Hi Everyone!
Happy Monday loves. Ok so remember 6 weeks ago when I announced that I was part of a fun room makeover collaboration with 18 other top notch bloggers and we all had lofty dreams of showing some special attention to a room in our homes in an attempt to revitalize our love for said room and would reveal the changes starting today?
And remember how I planned to makeover our teeny tiny dining room?
Lets just take a look at what weve got shall we?
Womp Womp…Yeah. About that. See what had happened was…..I got diddly squat accomplished, save for the new table. Which means this whole list of things I intended to do:
Replace the table. I’m sticking with the round shape because it just makes more sense in the space. It’s all about maximizing every inch in this room. It also will allow for a little better flow from the adjoining bedroom and kitchen. (done)- Create separation from the master bedroom. Our bedroom is right off the dining room, which isn’t a problem at all. Not having a door between the rooms is. I’ve envisioned a sliding door since the first time I saw the house.
- Get a rug
- Spruce up the built ins
- Nix the ceiling fan
- Create a small bar area
- Possibly replace the chairs. Naomi has never been a fan
- Art
…didn’t actually get done. I wish I had some remarkable reason why it didn’t happen, but I kinda don’t. Honestly Ive been preoccupied with other projects, and life in general. Plus the reality of the situation is we’ve only been in our home for 3 months (tomorrow actually) and we’ve already done so much. I guess I just needed to pace myself. The dining room will get done, eventually.
On a more positive note: we have the new hardware for the built ins, Ive decided on a light fixture (finally), and Ive ordered the hardware for the barn door. So that’s something:)
Alright, so if you want to see ACTUAL makeovers make sure you check out the spaces created by the wonderful ladies below. Their spaces rock.
Until next time….

I love the paint color on the walls of this dining room and how everything else pops out against it. Great room and great design!

Oh my goodness, this gave me a little chuckle 🙂 Life gets the best of all of us sometimes. Love that you didn’t try to fudge something but just said it like it was. THIS is why people love you (among many other reasons). You’re so real and honest. Sometimes things go as planned and sometimes they don’t. And that’s okay. You’ll get to it eventually. Great message to put out there 🙂

Thank you so much Jen. Youre the best:)

Slow decorating is the way I like to roll too! It’s always better than rushing to finish something! That new table is pretty fabulous 🙂

Hi Tanya! Thank you and thank you so much for being a new follower:) I think the table is just perfect too, especially since it extends to accommodate dinner parties.
Jenn @ HomeStyleReport says
Since we’ve been in our house, I’ve learned that I really can’t rush a room or else I change 80% of it within a few months away. Its so hard when you’re in the learning phase of how your family lives in a new home but you’re so anxious to get all the projects done! You’re home is beautiful though, I can’t wait to see more!
shavonda says
I couldn’t agree more Jenn. Im trying to take my time and remember since we will be in this house for a long time, decorating is a marathon, not a sprint. Its not easy because Im a I want it and I want it now kinda gal. Thank you so much my dear. Youre the sweetest:)
Kristin @ Bliss at Home says
It’s going to be fab. I may not make the finish line either. I am still plugging away on Sam’s room…hopefully it will be done in the next couple days…fingers-crossed! xoxo

Love your plans and the table is great. Sometimes slow is the best way to go (and that’s how I roll, too!).

Thank you Emily. Slow and steady….

It will all come together eventually (and you have a lot of stuff going on) and even though the space ‘isn’t done’ it looks so good & feels good!!! The biggest project on your list has been checked off a new dining room table which is just fantastic and I love it!!
shavonda says
Thank you sweet friend. Thank you for being so sweet and positive. We love our table and having our dear friends over to gather around it;)
Bethany @ Dwellings by DeVore says
I say it’s better to wait and have it exactly how you want it than to rush to get it done. The table is awesome and I can’t wait to see the rest of the room come together!
shavonda says
Thank you Bethany. Im DYING over your space. The black walls and leopard are killer.
