Hi Everyone!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and return back to the daily grind. Just wanted to pop in and let you know today Im over at my girl Elizabeth’s fessin up a torrid deep dark secret of mine!!
I absolutely love this series of hers and I was SO excited when she asked me to spill the beans. So what exactly have I NOT been tellin yall? You’ll have to head on over and see.
Speakin of fessin up…let me just take a moment to fess up on how Im feeling about this Pantone Color of the Year situation.
Ummm…..yeah #notafan. This could very well be death to my blog, but um er….this gets a thumbs down from me with the quickness in terms of interiors. I will say I think its got fab potential in the fashion and beauty departments, but I cant get past it putting me in a dark place. And I dont mean like my dark wall/moody interiors/dramatic fantasticness lovin heart type dark. Im talkin late 90’s to mid 2000’s/Blossom’s vest/the wall color I JUST covered up type dark.
Now yall know I am a lover of color….all colors, and Im not saying I dont like the color. Im just sayin this one may be tricky to translate well into modern day interiors. Yes, it could be pretty as window panels, or a cozy throw, or an accent pillow, or a vase, but Im not really seeing it have the ability to transform and elevate a space in the same way as years past. Emerald was and still is powerful in spaces. Is there really anything more gorgeous and regal than Emerald curtains, or a tufted Emerald velvet sofa or, malachite. Not really. And even if you aren’t a fan of bold, vibrant colors, you cant deny that even the smallest hint of Tangerine Tango or Radiant Orchid in a space had the power to instantly revive and refresh it. Marsala…hmmm not so much. Eh, but then again theres a pull toward earthy, natural, casual spaces now so this color may be effective in that instance. Its gonna be a tough sell for people I think. But, hey, what do I know?
Happy weekend friends. Until next time….

Cracking up. I think we have to make such choices…that makes life interesting. We can’t economize on everything. Agree with assessment on color of year!

100% agree with you on the color of the year. Didn’t like this years OR last years. Pantone…are you guys drunk?? 😉

Your Fess Up made me laugh so hard. I freaking love you. And the Color of the Year, I have to say I like it more than last year’s orchid. And not just because I think of marsala wine 😉 #maybe
But as with every year’s color, I think it’s better used as an accent otherwise HELLO Golden Girls decor!

Totally with you on this one–not a fan of the color at all! I agree with Beth–all I see is lipstick!

Yeah, I get it – not a fan of ‘Marsala’ either… it’s a great wine but colorwise, I’ll pass.

Ugh Blossom’s vest, the lipstick of every woman in the 90’s, and every grandma’s car color!!

“Blossom’s vest”
…made me snort. Love it.

I loved the “fess-up” about the shoes and bags. I not into either, but my “fess-ups” are cameras. So, we all have our weaknesses.
Pam says
I really do not like it at all. I tried to think of the ways I would use it and I can’t even think of an instance where it would work in my home or on my body. Just yuck.

When I first saw that color it did not excite me in the least bit, but then you know how I am with a challenge. I am just not seeing it right at this minute. But I need to mull it over some more… Now I a off to learn about your deep dark secrets…

I am so unsure of the “marsala”. I definitely can’t see it in my home, but I can see how it translates in the fashion world. xoxo
