Hi Everyone!
Is it just me or does it seem like the beginning of the year calls for a good purge? From the pantry, to the makeup bag, to the kids’ toys…its just fitting to start the year off with a fresh start, yeah? When we downsized we had a pretty massive purge session since there was only so much from our last house we could physically fit into our new smaller digs, but the one area I neglected to really scrutinize was my wardrobe. Until now.
As I began the closet purge I noticed just how many pieces got the cut…mostly those that no longer fit or no longer appealed to me. It was a little alarming that very few pieces with true lasting power remained. I decided in that moment it was time for me to be much more intentional with my wardrobe purchases, and thus “Operation Build A Better Wardrobe” was born. These essential questions will be at the forefront of my mind when weighing weather to pull the trigger on a purchase from now on. Having limited closet space will keep me pretty honest, too, I think? Just like with home purchases, making sure the piece is something I either cant live without, or is a staple before it can take up residence will be key. I love trendy, of-the-moment pieces, but I also cant deny the power of great essentials. For me that’s 1.) a great fitting pair of distressed skinnies, 2.) a classic white men’s button up, and 3.) a leopard heel. No matter how many times I give my wardrobe “the cleanse”, these items always remain. They just work. Everytime. I always feel effortlessly put together when I wear them, whether all together or individually.
Tell me, what are your wardrobe essentials? Until next time…

i wish i could wear heels- those shoes are amazing! emmy looked over my shoulder and said “she’s pretty!”

Awww thank you Emmy. Youre quite beautiful too little sweetie. Make sure you give her a hug from me Cass. I love these shoes because the heel is incredibly do able for everyday. Its just barely taller than a kitten heel so it makes it easy to grab for them even when I know Ill be doing a fair amount of walking.

Great post. For me it has to be an awesome fitting pair of jeans (Gap jeans at the moment) and a good pair of flats (I’m not a heel person). I like simple tops, nothing too trendy.

Hi Lakitia! I really really really want to like GAP jeans, but they just don’t fit me very well:( I just started incorporating flats into my wardrobe recently. They are definitely a must have:)
