Hi Everyone!
Happy Thursday loves. I’m popping in today with a little bedroom update. The kids have been on a break from school this week so that means I haven’t been able to tackle as much as I usually do, but I was able to go give just a little attention to our bedroom.
As you know, (unless you’re new here, and in that case… HI!) the room we claimed as our master bedroom is in fact an addition, and not technically a bedroom at all. It’s a good size, has great light, and a set of French doors leading to the backyard, which makes it perfect for us until we can add on a legit space of our own.
Interestingly enough, this is the one room in the house I decided NOT to paint. I’m completely outside my comfort zone with its neutral walls so the main goal with this space is to use the neutral color as a canvas to bring in lots of color, texture, and pattern to give our room a modern boho vibe. Over the weekend I found a gorgeous piece of indigo mud cloth fabric at our monthly open air antique faire and immediately knew I wanted to use it in our bedroom somehow.
Earlier in the week I had found a woven basket at the thrift store for $3 that I thought might look good over the bed. I gave it a bit of a handcrafted look by painting the center white. At first I was weary of placing anything over our headboard because of the asymmetrical/slanted wall but I really like the way it looks.
I’ve still got a bit more to do in here before I call it done, but I’m liking the way its coming together. Still do to/find:
-Curtains
-Paint nightstands
-Replace lamps with wall mounted swing arm sconces (more space appropriate)
-Kantha quilt or throw for bed
-Full length floor mirror
-Bench or settee for foot of bed
-Door (yep, still don’t have one)
-Art/Accessories
Until next time….

The indigo fabric is perfect in there. Such a quick and easy way to change things up if you get bored, too. Looking great!!

Thanks Amanda. I completely agree. In the summer a pretty suzani or other vibrant color could be a great way to spruce it up too:)

Looking great so far – love that you’re slowly layering on. I find that so hard sometimes but always love those rooms the most. At first glance I thought the basket was a mirror!
Shavonda says
Thanks so much Jen. This slow decorating thing is KILLING me. But its a lesson in patience and choosing wisely.:)
