Hi Everyone!
Happy Thursday loves. For those of you who don’t know, last weekend I had a sudden, very tragic death in my family that pulled me away from California, social media, and the computer for the past week. I traveled back home to the south to be with family and attend the funeral. It was my first ever funeral and I can say with certainty it was something I wish to never have to experience again. I know death is a part of life, but I think the circumstances surrounding this loss made it extremely tough on all of us. It still seems so surreal. Honestly its been quite tough on me, and Im sure in time things will get easier. I want to thank each and every one of you who reached out on IG, email, or text to send your offers of condolences to me and my family. I appreciate it more than you know. I love you guys so much for it.
Now let’s get into happy talk, shall we… and nothing makes me happier than talkin design! Well except maybe a really great treasure hunting score..and tassels…and textiles…asn baskets…and indian food..but I digress. I came across this image the other day and it struck me as interesting instantly.
Like a lot of what I feature here at SG Style, this look isn’t gonna be for everyone. I REALLY love the casual, carefree, boho vibe of the drop cloth draped sofa here. In this particular room I appreciate that it takes the space in a completely different direction… imperfect and unpretentious. Paired with the thick traditional baseboards, grasscloth papered walls, and intricate screen, the decision to drape the sofa instantly makes the room livable and approachable.
Paige’s sofa is another example of a great use. I love how she layered gorgeous textiles on top of the cloth. They make it look super intentional. I think this is such a great look guys.
I feel like this look could give you some extra use out of a not so easy on the eyes anymore sofa situation. And since drop cloth is washable, it’s a good solution if you have pets or young children. Plus its just so flippin inexpensive.
I’m wondering what you guys think of the look? Id love to hear your thoughts. Until next time loves…

OMGOODNESS. You are right on with the thoughts in my head! this is something I’m wanting to do, right after shampooing our mint green sofa and loveseat (I’m dreading that part).

Buying drop cloth! This is such a great solution to an ugly but well made couch! Until we find our “perfect” couch I really think this look will look amazing with our kantha quilt upholstered wing back chairs! Thanks for the tip!

OOOh kantha upholstered wingbacks sound amazing!! So glad you were inspired:)

So sorry for your loss!
I love the look of all the different patterns in the second picture…..we have a loveseat in our library that I keep covered up because it’s a defacto dog bed–that makes me want to find a couple more spreads for it so it looks more on purpose 🙂

Thnak you Gretchen! Yes, I agree…Paige’s sofa looks super intentional and really beautiful.

Awww big hugs honey, I’m just so sorry for you loss! 🙁
As for the drapeclothed sofas, it’s probably not something I could live with either! lol BUT I think if I had a sofa I wasn’t crazy about in a pattern/colour I had to live with, I’d prefer to cover it with layers of saris or embroidered cloths to make it look like it was sort of ‘oh this? yeah I just threw this on top’ sort of boho vibe and get lots of pattern and colour going in the space like the first space! xxx

i think in theory and in these images it looks great, but i don’t know if i could live with constantly rearranging it because as people sit on it it would move, etc.
Shavonda says
Oooh that would get tricky…great thing to keep in mind:)
