Hi Everyone!
Happy Monday loves. Without a doubt Moroccan Beni Ourain shag rugs boomed in popularity over the last year or so. I think its pretty safe to say it was easily probably the trendiest and most coveted rug of the season…and with good reason. They are beautiful, soft, neutral, and add such visual texture and warmth to a space. I mean errbody and their momma had a version of it available. And errbody wanted a piece of the Moroccan pie…especially after some design favs like Emily Henderson used it in their spaces.
I get it. They’re awesome and all ….BUT today I wanna shine the spotlight on their cousin and my personal preference of boho Moroccan rug yumminess: The Boucherouite rug.
I just love them! The color..the texture…the randomness. Aside from all that, it’s the backstory of these guys that make them so fabulous to me. Im such a sucker for the underdog and these beauties are made entirely of leftovers. The Berber women of the Moroccan mountains handcraft them out of fabric scraps! Typically from leftover wool, cotton, and other recyclable materials. The beauty is in the ingenuity and the fact that each one is individual and unique. The designs are random and imperfect, which for me IS perfection.
Im in the market for a new living room rug after Callie got a hold of a pillow in my absence. I was pretty sure I was gonna go for another jute rug, but now Im thinking maybe I should opt for one of these beauties. Honestly, this is doing nothing to help my rug commitment issues. But I could totally commit to one of these. At least for a while….
Until next time loves….

That would be a hard choice! But the colors of the boucherouite are stunning! The kilim may actually wear better in the living room as you’re thinking.

Oh so pretty!! I love both but I’m definitely favoring the underdog here too… only because I need some color and a white rug (especially one with so many fibers) in this house will not go… even lighter color, shaggy rugs can’t happen. We had one in my daughter’s nursery and it picked up on everything. It’s now in our basement for our animals to enjoy while we’re away. I can totally see you having one in your living room!!

OOOh good call on the shag. I never even really thought about the shed factor. SOOOO something to consider with an already super sheddy dog:) Im actually now thinking of a Turkish/kilim for my living room and a boucherouite for the hallway!!
