Hi Everyone!
So this past Spring I finally bit the bullet and made a purchase Ive been wanting to make for quite a while. After falling in love with the new Ikea Stockholm rattan cabinet and not being able to get it due to quality issues in the production phase I was forced to find a plan B. Id been anticipating its arrival at my store for weeks and when I got there the day it was supposed to be in I was told they wouldnt be getting it afterall. I loved the natural look and feel of it and I thought it would be the perfect thing to bring in some much needed storage into our living room.
I actually planned to get two and place them side by side along the wall where our desk was currently sitting. The scale was a bit short so I was going to incorporate a gallery wall above it and probably a lamp for some light disbursement over on that side of the room.
Enter Plan B:
This gorgeous number from Urban Outfitters.
I absolutely fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. It had the same look as the Ikea cabinet but the scale was much much better and I much preferred that it its raised up off the ground a bit more. Plus its got GREAT storage!
While the Ikea cabinet is priced at $350, this one is much higher at $729. But since I planned to get 2 of the ones from Ikea I was going to be spending $700 anyway. I waited until UO had a sale and I used a birthday coupon for an additional 20% off and ended up only paying just over $400! It was on backorder until the end of June and the wait was torrrrrrtttuuuuuurrreee!
When I FINALLY received it I couldnt be more excited. Having it in the space has been a complete game changer. Not only is it just plain pretty, it provides a ton of much needed storage.
Guys. This. Piece. Is. Goooooood. Its definitely worth the investment. And its one of the best purchases we’ve made for our home in a while. I do want to change out the hardware eventually, but for now Im enjoying it as is.
Until next time friends…

Hello.
Wow you space looks amazing! So beautiful.
And this cabinet looks so beautiful! I would so love to have one like that or a similar style.
I’d be interested to understand how the lower shelf/ compartment opens? I really don’t get it. Can it be open while the doors above are shut? And how does it open?
Would you somehow be able to post/ send me a photo of it and its opening technique? I’m super curious.
Thanks so much

Hi! Oh my gosh this is so lovely!! I just had a question about how the Marte cabinet has held up? I’m currently on the fence in purchasing one…it’s so incredibly lovely, but all the reviews on UO say that the doors are wonky and don’t close. Yours look like they do, did you have any trouble with that or have to fix it? Thanks!

Hi Sara! Thank you so much. I haven’t had a single issue with it at all. Its been quite a while since I got it and it’s still in perfect condition. The doors close and open perfectly and have never been wonky. It also didn’t take me very long to put it together. Based on my experience with it I would definitely recommend it. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi there! Did it come with the shelves, or did you have to add those? Online it looks like there is a clothing rack on one side. Thanks for the help!! : )

Hi Shavonda – I discovered your IG account when it was recommended on some other IG account I follow and I am really enjoying your pictures and your IG stories which surprised me since I’m annoyed by so many of the IG stories haha.
I have enjoyed seeing this UO cabinet come together and to hear you talk about it because the reviews on the website are really bad! I’ve seen a few pieces on that site that I really like but I’ve been scared to order them due to the reviews. But you’re giving me hope!
Also listened to your podcast today after finally figuring out where to find it. I’m so bad at IG! I literally cannot figure out how to “swipe up”. Looking forward to more of those.

Hi Gina!! Welcome! And thank you so much. As far as the cabinet reviews on the website there are only 2 at the moment…mine and one more! It was an annoying build, but not terrible and I didn’t feel it was so bad that I needed to return it:) Now for the podcast, it will be super simple to subscribe. I actually JUST got word back from Itunes so all my episodes will be on Itunes starting today. If you are an Android user you can listen via Stitcher! If you have an iPhone just use the purple podcast app that automatically comes on your phone to listen in. If you are an Android user you’ll want to go through google play to do that. And on IG when you are in stories there will be a prompt at the bottom of the page that says “SWIPE UP” if someone has linked to a page that they want you to go directly to. And you literally just take your finger and swipe up the page to be directly taken to whatever page theyve linked.

Looks great. It goes so well with the rest of your living/family room. I laughed because you’re using your purse as décor. It’s genius actually. You don’t have to store it in your closet or a drawer. I’m cool with whatever’s multipurpose and multifunctional.
Shavonda Gardner says
Exactly!! I do wear it actually almost everyday…i just think its waay too pretty to shove away and never be seen.
