Hey Hey Hey friends!
Yaasss it’s porch season guys! And as you know I’m all about that porch life! There’s nothing better than enjoying a morning cup or an evening glass on the porch people watching. It’s one of the Southern things about me that is deeply rooted, and I dont think I could ever live in a house that doesnt have one. As a matter of fact, on my list of home must- haves its like number 2. I’m so so happy we were able to find a house with a porch here in CA.
One of my favorite things about having a porch (whether screened in or not) is that its truly like a bonus room in your house. And when you are a small home dweller every opportunity to capitalize on a little extra space counts! We use our porch like a living room during the warm months and I head out there every morining to have my coffee or tea and to check emails, work on the computer, and set my intentions for the day. I also love to have friends and neighbors over for drinks, and small bites. It often turns into a mini block party!
I LOVE decorating my porch every Spring, and this year I’m hunting for a few special pieces to add to the mix. In true Shavonda style I want it to feel like a bohemian retreat in a far away land. My friends over at Joss and Main asked me to share some inspiration for creating a beautiful and affordable outdoor space this season, so I’ve chosen some fab pieces to help you pull together your own travel inspired getaway at home…and all at GREAT price point!
When it comes to ANY space I like to keep a few of my personal design rules in mind: always a mix of textures, every room needs something black, and every room needs something unexpected! Im always a fan mixing up seating, so I almost never go with a matching set. What better way to have fun with outdoor seating than with a hanging chair and daybed!? They are both PERFECT for warm lazy day lounging. They also set the tone for a bohemian retreat vibe.
Next up is storage! One can never have too much storage and I love this coffee table as a great way to store pillows and throws for cool nights. You could also tuck candles, books, trays, games, or any other outdoor entertaining essentials in it. Portable storage is key too! I love a good bar cart for outdoors. They are great for serving up drinks and keeping snacks easily within reach.
Even if you’re color-shy inside your home, outside is the perfect opportunity to incorporate tons of color! Bright pillows and a patterned rug are a must! And no outdoor space is complete without string lights and plants, am I right? Nothing says global retreat like lots of color, pattern, texture, and life!
Whether you’re decorating a porch, patio, deck, courtyard, or any other outdoor space, it doesnt have to cost a fortune to make it beautiful. All it takes it a few key players to make a space come to life. How are you decorating your outdoor spaces this season?
Until next time friends..

Love this! I’m determined to get our patio all set up to enjoy this summer – my inspiration has been the Parker Palm Springs. Just like your roundup it’s a little boho and a little glam.
