So now that you have the Sleep Train commercial stuck in your head….
When it comes to sleep Naomi and I have a history of riding the struggle train. We have suuuuch different needs and wants when it comes to sleep, and it seems we are always trying our hardest to accomodate the other so we both can get as much rest as possible.
As with our differences in personality, our differences when it comes to sleep comfort are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Naomi needs complete darkness to sleep and sleeps with a mask on every night, while I dont. Naomi absolutley HAS to sleep with a fan running, while I cant. Naomi doesnt have seaonal or environmental allergies and I do, so a fan makes for a miserable nights sleep for me. She, on the other hand, needs both the sound and the cool air. I dont sleep well when its cold at all. I burrow myself under the blankets even in the dead of summer, while she doesnt. See….STRUGGLES. We’ve tried SO MANY things to meet in the middle, including compromising on days when the fan gets to be on at night, and even what TYPE of fan!
An added layer to the sleep situation is that for quite a bit of our relationship we worked opposite schedules, with Naomi working nights and myself days. Its alot easier for both of us to sleep when we dont have the other person to have to accommodate!
Recently we’ve be trying to find ways to get better sleep and that has meant making changes like introducing essential oils and bringing in new bedding. We’ve always slept on linen bedding because I find it to be incredibly comfortable, but in an effort to find a happy medium I decided to try something new….. and boy am I happy we did.

Naomi and I invested in our mattress and it was the best money we’ve ever spent. We have a Sterns and Foster and it is COM FOR TABLE! Coupled with this fantastic new bedding its like we get to sleep in a hotel bed every night.
As someone who knows what its like to NOT get good sleep, I can tell you when you do finally start getting better sleep it feels like a complete luxury. We spend a huge portion of our lives sleeping. Its an incredily important part of living a healthy life so I really feel like if there’s any one area in the home to invest in, its definitely where you sleep.
Aside from the fact that their products are just really really good, I also love that Ginkova is a female owned small business. I love that her focus is first and foremost quality, that she uses quality sustainable resources, and that the bedding is made using centuries old techniques from Portgual. They are made to last a lifetime and I can tell you that after months of living with them and several washes they seem to get better and better everytime.
