Hi Everyone!
So, how many of you have heard Corian® Design and thier products? I’m sure most of you have, right? And when you hear Corian what comes to mind? If you’re anything like me, you may be picturing old school imitation granite in varied tones. If so, I totally get it. I grew up with Corian countertops and even had Corian counters in the kitchen of our last house. Let me tell you, the Corian game has chaaaaaaaanged. And in the best way.
If you’re new to world of solid surfaces, Corian® Design is more than just a countertop material brand. It’s a source of inspiration for architects, designers, and homeowners around the world. The Corian® Design portfolio includes solid surface as well as quartz materials in over 100 different colours and patterns. Their Corian® Quartz options are OUT OF CONTROL good.
Beyond solid surface materials, at Corian® Design they believe that when you design a space, you’re not just putting together a room: you’re combining materials, textures and furnishings to tell a story about who you are and what matters to you. With that in mind, they’ve introduced a new Moodboard Maker tool and they invited me to give it a try. The concept is super dope, and I think you guys will really like it. The Moodboard Maker allows you to quickly and easily create inspiration boards for your interior design projects. But, this isn’t like your traditional moodboard. They are artistic and really unique.
Since I’ve been working on the design of our dining area for a while now I thought I would create a board around that space.
The vibe I’m going for in here is moody bohemian/eclectic with just a touch of luxe. Creating a visual inspiration board is a great way to stay on track when pulling together design elements in a space. It’s easy to get sidetracked by all the things, so the Moodboard Maker is the perfect place to curate those visual elements for you to refer back to as you’re shopping for and sourcing pieces for your space. I gathered a few images of my fave dining spaces for inspiration and then easily created my moodboard.
Creating the moodboard was really simple and took no time at all.
- Start in the Moodboard Maker tool by selecting the style that most represents you. I chose bohemian, because…duh! Each style is associated with a unique mosaic shape as well as unique textures to choose from.
- Next fill your mosaic with a Corian® swatch and then with any other images, patterns or textures of your choice. You can use the preloaded options or upload your own images. I chose Corian® Solid Surface in Carbon Concrete and Corian® Quartz in Portoro and Calacatta Natura swatches to represent existing elements in our room (marble top dining table), and/or those I could see incorporating into the room (either a concrete or soapstone countertop for the hutch). I also included plants, rattan, and a bit of shine to round it out.
Once its all done you can save your board to your camera roll, share it on social media, and even order a framed print of it directly from the site to hang as art in the space. I think that’s so cool and such a great way to showcase the inspiratons that helped you create the space.
The tool is so simple and fun to use that you can try out all the different mosiacs to create boards for every space in your home! Head over and give it a try. I’d love to see some of them with #corianmoodboardmaker.
Until next time friends….

Great post! We went with quartz in our remodel, but previously had Corian. As far as a hard working surface that still looks great, we really loved it. I was never worried about it staining, etc. We’d let the kids do all kinds of crazy science experiments on it, etc. Everything just wiped right off. I came really close to using it in our remodel because it had “worked” so hard in our kitchen before. It’s a totally underrated material! I cook dinner almost every night and spend most of Saturday and Sunday in there (it seems) – I think some designers forget that the kitchen needs to be a hardworking space for most families. The “pretty” has to be balanced with the “functional.”
