Hi Everyone!
Earlier this summer I had the opportunity to work with Feather to help spread the word about who they are and what they do. I’ve talked about them on IG and shared extensively in my stories about why I love them and how beneficial the service is.
Essentially you can think of them like Rent The Runway, but for furniture. It took me a little bit to figure out how this could be of service to to you guys when they first approached me, but I realized it really is a great concept. It’s perfect for those who are in really short term living situations, people who are still trying to figure out their interior design style, folks who travel a lot for work and maybe dont have the time to fret over furniture, and of course those like me who are design obsessed and really love to change things up often. There’s also a really great sustainability element to the company as well. You can check out my video highlights if you want to get a more in depth feel for it.
When thinking about how Feather could work for me I decided it would be a great opportunity to try out a few furniture pieces I’ve been considering for our home for quite a while. I chose a marble top dining table and a velvet colored sofa for us to live with for a couple of months.
I’ve been seriously thinking about a Saarinen marble top tulip table for our dining space for a long time so I’ve loved being able to see if I not only like the look in here, but also whether we can actually live with marble with the kids.
It’s been great! This isn’t quite that tulip style, but the overall vibe is very similar. It’s slightly larger than our black table which has been awesome. Those few extra inches in diameter have been perfect. The marble has been so much easier to maintain than I imagined. No stains and no issues at all with it. I would absolutely consider getting one permanently. I also really like the thought of just a white top tulip table. I love the way the white contrasts in here against the dark walls and chairs.
Now as far as the sofa…..
If you’ve been with me for a while you know I’m obsessed with colored sofas and have been considering one for our space for a few years. I was really happy to see this option at Feather and it was the perfect chance to test out the waters. So what’s the verdict? I LOVE IT!
It’s so so good guys. Naomi even likes it! With that said there are a few things we would change about the style since living with it for a while. First up let’s go over what we we LOVE about it.
- The Velvet-It’s incredibly easy care. Literally everything just wipes right out with a damp coth.
- The Bench Seat-I’ve always visually preferred a bench cushion and now we know we like living with one too.
- The Midcentury Style-I was really on the fence about this. It’s for sure more Naomi’s style, but I do love the clean lines in the space.
- The Bold Color-This is a DEFINITE love for me, which I’m sure is no surprise to anyone. I’ve loved colored velvet sofas for FOREVER so it’s good to know I love living with one just as much as I love seeing them. The green is beautiful, although, I wasn’t expecting such a jewel tone green. This is much more deep teal-green. I’m not mad at it, but I would for sure also really love true emerald or more vibrant green.
Ok so now let’s talk about some things I would want different if we decide to get one permanently after this one goes back to Feather.
- The Fill-we are definitley down fill people! This seat cushion is poly fill and it’s a bit hard. It took a little while to get used to because we’ve always had down filled sofas. It isnt unbearable, just firmer than we prefer. So we’d make sure to go for a down fill option.
- The Tufts-I love the tufts…just not on the seat. I’d much prefer them on the back cushions. Currently things get trapped in the tufts so we have to wipe them out A LOT.
- The Legs/Frame-while I know its sturdy, It just always feels like the legs are going to give out at any given moment! I much prefer a more solid looking foundation.
We will be saying goodbye to these pieces in a few weeks but they’ve given us some great insight about how some of the things I’ve been covetting will actually work in our home, and with the way we live. Now I’m off to find a table and sofa…..
Until next time friends….

Shavonda, I love that sofa and have been looking at one recently for The1878, but have had some reservations about the comfort level. I would love a sleek and stylish piece in our new home, but know for sure that this is going to be our main family/lounge space for A WHILE, so I want it to be comfortable and not look too fussy too. Glad to hear your insight on this style of sofa 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

Of course friend! Choosing a sofa is seriously so hard…especially when there are kids and pets and other variables to consider. Im happy this was helpful.
