Hi Everyone!
Happy ORC Wednesday friends. Ok so this past week has been the most stressful week of the challenge thus far guys. Im freaking out just a bit because we are already in week 4 and haven’t even gotten to the point of rebuilding the bathroom yet beyond what’s behind the walls. I’m seriously feeling the pressure ya’ll. I’d hoped to be further along by now, but such is the life of a renovation.
The theme of this week has been: waiting, waiting, waiting. We’ve been waiting on all the major players in the space to show up and thankfully just about 80% did in the last couple of days! Because I had to change the tile selection from the original plan it took a bit for the new tile to get ordered and shipped out. That tile change triggered me to basically change up the entire plan so several of the design elements have been edited to accommodate the new direction, which I love, but it also means having to wait a little while longer for things to come in. My goal was to start tiling by Sunday, but between my contractors’ schedules and the tile not being in yet we’ve been pushed back to tomorrow to start the tiling. Eek!
We’d also been waiting on the faucetry to come in so we can get the roughs installed, which put a hold on working on any of the plumbing, which put a hold on working on any of the framing of the shower and tub area, which…..I tell ya its a domino effect!
BUT on a positive note everything we need to really start putting the bathroom back together is in the building! We got all the roughs in and installed
The shower and tub are framed in hardiebacker and all the niches are built out
The electrical has been relocated for the vanity lights
The subfloor has been rebuilt and cement board laid for tile
So this week its going to be all about getting it done. I hired out the most of the work up until this point, but Ill be doing the tile install and other finishing details myself. I’ve made a new goal to try to have all the tile and the faucetry for the tub and shower installed by next Tuesday. If I can get that done I can rock out pulling the rest of the space together in time for reveal day. Also my wife has threatened my life if I dont have her shower back up and functioning in the next two weeks!
Make sure you follow me on IG to see all the progress of the tiling. Next week I’ll be sharing all the details and peeks about the products I’ve chosen for the space. Its where all the pretty stuff will start to come in. For now here’s a peek at the tile.
It’s from Overstock and I love it! It’s an unglazed porcelain so its not as true black as I anticipated, but its very textural and pretty. It actually photographs much darker that it is in person. I’ll be using black grout which will help offest the color and give it that deep dark color overall. Wish me luck friends.
In the meantime hop on over and check out this week’s updates from my partners in design:

Hello! LOVE the many niches! You are brilliant! There is nothing worse than getting in a shower and having nowhere to put shampoo bottles, soap, razors, etc. except on the floor … which means every time you want a squirt of something, you have have to bend all the way down, get water in your eyes, and try to find the right bottle. And gggrrrrlll … don’t even get me started on trying to shave your legs with nowhere to prop your foot! You are gonna love this bathroom, and Naomi will be ecstatic with its beauty and practicality. I’m already head over heels for that skylight! The finished project will be well worth the pain. (And if you need a laugh during this time, just watch “Money Pit” again. Whenver we’re in the middle of a reno that seems endless, we say to each other “two weeks, lady!”) LOL!

I know it is going to be amazing and even though I cringed at black tiles the ones you have ended up with look so very rich.
Wishing you no more delays and lots of luck. I know in the end your wife will love it and say it was so worth .
