Hi Everyone!
Happy ORC Wednesday sweet friends. It’s week 5 yall. WEEK. FIIIIIVE. Gulp.
So I have good news and bad news this week friends. So let’s start with the bad. The bad news is the bathroom wont be 100% complete for the reveal next week. I know. Im really sad and very disappointed about it. But unless a 7th hour miracle happens in the next 6 days, its just not possible. If you follow me on Insta then you know I had a majorly frustrating tiling situation this past weekend. Basically I spent 2 full days installing the tile in the shower in the wrong orientation, So I had to take it all down and start over. Yall. I cried. Real tears. Like, legit had a mental breakown in the middle of the bathroom floor at 2:30 in the morning. When I tell you the feeling of defeat that came over me! But, I gave myself a moment to have a full meltdown and then took a deep breath and came up with a plan of action as to how to move forward.
I essentially have to start completey over again with a clean slate with the shower in order to properly re tile it, and since Im doing it myself thats gonna take me at least a week. I don’t have that kind of time to dedicae to it. So rather than focusing on tackling the shower right now Im pouring everything into getting the rest of the room complete. Luckily I had just enough tiles remaining to re do the shower, but unfortunately that means the tiles that were originally meant for the floor are now allocated to that. I pulled in my plan B (oversisize hex tiles we already own ) for the floors to make up for it. Coincidentally these were the original floors planned for the space so we’ve come full circle. And thankfully we have a separate tub and shower so we will have at least one source for bathing again. Hallelujah!
I’ll dive back into finishing up the shower after the reveal next week and then I will share the full space again once that gets done. But,dont fret friends! The space is still going to be so good and I’m very very excited about it! So lets move on to the good, shall we.
Despite the blow concerning the shower we are making good progress on the room and Im starting to see the light at the end of the verrryyyyyy long tunnel. I feel like its gonna come down to the wire, but some of the larger pieces of the puzzle are complete. We’ve got the floors installed, the skylight installation has been completely finished and we now have a framed ceiling ready for paint, the tub surround is about 90% done, aaaaaand the mystery wallpaper has been installed! You guys! It looks AMAZING. It’s so unexpected and yet so perfect at the same time. I can’t wait for you guys to see it.
I thought I would take a moment today to share the final design details of the space before the reveal next week. Quite a few of the elements have changed from the original plan at week 1 so lets take a look. Here’s what we started with:
and here’s what we will end up with based on how things have played out in the space
My inspiration for this space comes from a couple of different sources. First, I want it to look and feel like a luxe boutique hotel bathroom. I’ve traveled a bit over the past year and I love the very bespoke look of a chic boutique hotel interior…particularly the bathrooms. I’m also heavily inspired by British design, as you know, so Im channeling that moody, bold, unapologetic, and eclectic style here in this space.
I really want this room to have its own unique design identity amongst the other spaces in our home. It will very much feel like it belongs in #thecottagebungalow, but in a way that isn’t as literal as say, continuing a color or theme from room to room. The details are what’s really going to make this makeover come together and I can’t wait to get to that part.
See you next week for the reveal! And make sure youre following me on IG. Ill be sharing lots of the details as I unpack boxes and get last minute deliveries. In the meantime make sure you check out all of the other designer spaces:

I’m sorry you had it so rough- but dang girl u know how to bounce back! Pivot a B like a pro! And reading this, I don’t think your “bad news” is really all that bad. I mean, yeah it’s bad for you cuz you’re doing the work ? BUT in terms of ORC it’s really fine, and you have your tub for bathing… bless that tub! We are so EXCITED to see everything and don’t mind waiting on the gorgeous shower.
Keep Going! You got this!!!!! Hugs

Hi, Shavonda. So sorry for that dark night of the soul experience with the tiles. Frustrating and disappointing for you… But that bathroom is going to be one gorgeous spa when you do get it finished. Sending love and strength your way as you push for the finish line!
