Hi Everyone!
Happy Thursday friends! It’s been a busy busy busy almost two months of non-stop travel, events, and/or photo shoots. I haven’t had time to catch my breath for very long before its on to the next thing and the poor blog has been sadly neglected. I’m happy to be back today with a bit of a round up post of sorts.
As you know I’m constantly tweaking and decorating and changing up our spaces and recently I’ve been thinking A LOT about statement mirrors. I LOVE a good floor mirror, especially in a small space, and there are a couple of spots here in thecottagebungalow I’ve been thinking about adding one.
Our dining “room” has been a thorn in my side from the moment we moved in and I’ve struggled with how to decorate the one wall it has. Over the years I’ve decorated it with a mirror, art, and tapestries…. and while they’ve all been pretty they’ve felt kinda meh to me.
I’m of the belief that small spaces need big moments and it just randomly occurred to me that a statement mirror would be perfect in this awkward space. I loved the peacock mirror in here but always wished it was larger and reflected more light. With no window and a suuuuuuper limited footprint, an oversized floor mirror would work wonders for giving the illusion of more space, adding visual impact, and reflecting as much light as possible from the bedroom. Also since the wall connects to the living room it will help further define the space.
The other spot I’m interested in adding a floor mirror is over next to the window in the living room.
I’m picturing creating a moment here with a grouping of plants in front of the mirror helping to reflect light from the windows and french door. Maybe with the mirror sitting up on small console with magazines stored under. Something similar to this:
I love this very collected look with the books and plants. So heres’s a round up of a handful of some of my faves Ive found.
{1. Anthropologie | 2. Pottery Barn | 3. Ballard Designs | 4. Arhaus | 5. Frontgate | 6. Anthropologie | 7. Arhaus}
I’d also love something vintage so I’m on the lookout while thrifting and on Craigslist and FB Marketplace as well. I’m hoping Ill find the perfect ones soon.
Until next time friends….

Hello! Yes, I think you’re def on the right track! A floor mirror would reflect light and add a whole new dimension to both those spaces. I say: “the bigger, the better!” I’d go with a big wide frame burnished gold (or maybe pewter-y silver??) frame. Can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy hunting! (And if you can’t find THE perfect ready-made frame, maybe it’s worth pricing to have a framer make the perfect mirror for you???)
