Hi Everyone!
Happy Hump day friends! So last week I had the opportunity to host a Let’s Leisure designer talk event in Berkeley as part of a 3-part collaboration event series with Cb2, Domino, and Refinery 29. I talked about current design trends, summer entertaining, and how to incorporate these trends in your own spaces and lifestyle this season. I had a great time…despite our stormy weather. Which, by the way, definitely did NOT inspire any outdoor living vibes.
One of the design trends we talked about was tubular details and how we are seeing them incorporated in interiors in ways ranging from archways, sculptured walls and other architectural elements, to curved sofas. My personal favorite when it comes to this trend is in channel tufted upholstery.
Now I fully realize this look popped up on the scene in a major way around 2 years ago so at this point its kinda old news, BUT, yall…I really really really love it. I’m very into curves and rounded elements at the moment which may have something to do with it. But also its just a very very fun take on a super classic and traditional design element like upholstery. I love how it reads quite fresh and modern.
I mean…seriously! I’m particularly keen on this trend used on beds. I’m in the middle of designing our bedroom makeover and I can totally see a channel tufted bed in the space. I think it would be so good in the room…especially since the wall the bed is against is slanted and quite low. A vertical channel would add some much needed visual height to mix
I took to the internets to round up a few of my favorite channel tufted beds
( Pottery Barn Teen, Horchow, Bloomingdales, One Kings Lane, Lulu & Georgia)
What do you guys think of this trend? Are you feeling it? Until next time friends…..

I have been getting signs all over the place for design ideas I’ve been toggling with and want to implement. And this was one of the major elements of the space that i was keen on. So just seeing this post, I know it was meant to be!

The beds you highlighted are gorgeous. The vertical channel tufting, which I prefer, has an Art Deco feel to me. I saw your lovely bungalow featured on Apartment Therapy and I’m pleased to have discovered your blog via it.
