Hi Everyone!
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve shared a decor obsession post, right!? So let’s talk about it friends. Ya’ll know I’m not really one to jump on a design “trend” bandwagon . I genuinely believe if you design from your heart with what you love the end result is spaces that will feel timeless and intentional…no matter what the current “it” thing is. At this point I know my stile and I know what I do and don’t like. That said, every once in a while something will pop on the scene that totally captures my heart, and pampas grass is one of them.
Now, admittedly, this one took me a little while to warm up to. I just barely got on board with it…… like in the last week….which may come as a surprise since it has a very vintage boho vibe and for the most part that’s my jam. I think the disconnect for me was that I only ever see it used in neutral spaces, or those that feel a bit minimal/Scandi, or airy and beachy, or super super bohemian. It was hard for me to picture it fitting in with my aesthetic.
Then last week I came across it used in a more eclectic maximalist space and I was like OH YESSSSSSSS! I actually really dig it. It gave me the feels yall. It totally adds a visual layer to the space that even the prettiest bouquet wouldn’t be able to achieve.
I love the texture of it and that it’s a natural and sustainable material. I love that it can be used to add interest and height to a lonely corner or as an interesting centerpiece on a table. But id have to say the best thing about it is how affordable it is! Let me clarify that…I love how affordable it can be. In my area it’s almost like a weed and grows all over the place, even along the side of the freeway so I can forage it for free! I fully realize for some folks that’s not the case, but I think it’s still relatively inexpensive if you have to buy it. Cb2 has it for $5.95 for a set of 3 stems!
When it comes to design trends I think incorporating them into a space through decor and accessories is the perfect way to go. It’s an affordable way to keep your space feeling fresh and current while allowing you to continually discover new things. This is especially true for folks who have a tough time stepping outside of their comfort zone, or those who have design commitment issues. Style is evolutionary and you just never know when/if the trend you decided to try could become something that sticks with you for the long haul.
So tell me….are you digging the pampas grass trend? Are on team take it or leave it? Until next time friends….
