Hi Everyone!
Happy Wednesday and Happy ORC reveal day! Ok so imma need everyone to pull up a chair because this one is a doozy.
This ORC has been one for the books friends. We’ve made it to week 6 and while I would love to have beautiful photos showing off two amazingly renovated spaces, we just aren’t there. We’ve run into issue after issue (and still have some fires Carmeon is currently trying to put out) with this project so here’s where we are as of reveal day….
We are so bummed we didn’t meet the deadline, but are thrilled with how much worked actually happened in the past 7 days.
My last update was during week 4 right before heading to Memphis. When planning out our schedule and timeline the goal was to have both spaces complete of all the major working pieces (electrical, tile, plumbing, construction, painting, etc) prior to my arrival so that Carm and I could focus on pulling the spaces together with styling/product and decorating in an interactive way. Unfortunately, when I got there were still very much in the “raw” stage. There wasn’t much difference between week 4 and my week 5 arrival. Things were still very unfinished. By the time I left the crew had gotten the ceilings scraped and floated in the bedroom, finished the drywall, started installing the shower tile, and gotten a coat of primer on the walls. We couldn’t even really access the spaces around the work.
So, while that was super frustrating, lots of things got done over the past few days up to this point. All the walls have been painted, pocket door and french door hardware has been installed, trim has been installed, all bathroom tile has been installed and grouted, and the bedroom is at the stage of bringing in furniture!!
This project is has certainly been the poster child for Murphy’s Law. From trade and construction crew no shows, to damaged orders, plumbing problems, discovery of pest issues (wasps nests & other creepy crawlies)….you name it, it’s happened! This is the true reality of renovations and we haven’t shied away from sharing any of it with you.
We are almost there, but I’d say we are realistically about a week (or maybe even 2) away from truly completed spaces. I’m so anxious for Carm as I know she is beyond ready to have her house back. So please make sure you’re continuing to follow along with us on social media as we share it all in the coming days. We will be back with lots of images and all the links and info on the amazing product pulling these spaces together.
In the meantime check out Carm’s reveal post along with the reveals of all the other ORC featured designers. YOU GUYS. I haven’t made it through them all yet, but those that I have seen are RIDICULOUS in the best way possible! Happy indulging!
