Feel Good Flash Makeover with Emily Henderson and Target Part 3

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the third and final room reveal of the Feel Good Flash Makeover series with Emily Henderson and Target. So far I’ve shared with you the spaces we created for the twins and Devin, and today I’m sharing the room we created for my niece, Ariyah.

Ariyah is the oldest at 12 years old and she’s also the only girl.  She’s been looking forward to having her room decorated since the day they moved into their home so I felt the auntie pressure with this one.  I really really wanted to get it right and make sure she had a space she loved and could enjoy for years to come. Here’s a look at Ariyah’s room before…..

My primary design goal for her room was to give her a space that a tweenage girl would love to grow into through her teenage years. I wanted it to feel sophisticated yet fun and I wanted her to be able to personalize it as she gets older. I know how much of a refuge a bedroom is to a teenager so I really wanted her to have one she loves.  It was also important that we include a desk because of distance learning. When I asked her if there was anything she really wanted to see in her room she said her favorite colors are sky blue and neon yellow. Sooooo auntie said “challenge accepted”! Here’s what her room looks like now…

I love love love the color story in here. The deep teal velvet curtains look incredible against the sky blue we painted on the walls, ceiling and baseboards. The second I saw the chartreuse bedding I knew we HAD to have them in this space.  It gives us the look and feel of neon, which made Ariyah very very happy.   I also really love that the chartreuse is carried over in the curtains with the fun tassel detail as well.

When it came to decorating for the holidays we decided on a simple winter wonderland theme and Ariyah chose her favorite sky blue with silver and white accents.

I’m so so proud of how these rooms all came together and I’m so so happy that my sister and the kids love their spaces.  They are all so different and unique to their individual tastes and personalities, and it’s my greatest honor to be able to share the gift of design with them.  Having a space that is functional, beautiful and personal can have such a powerful effect on your day to day and I believe that should be fostered at an early age. It’s so fun to go to their house and see them all enjoying their rooms.  I’m really looking forward to transitioning them out of holiday decor and into their everyday look.
