Hi friends!
I’m really excited to be partnering up with my bestie, Carmeon, again and bringing back my home wish list post for a second year. I had so much fun doing it last year that we decided to bring back again for 2022! This post is a really fun one becuase it’s all about that manifestation. I believe in writing things down and making them happen, and I have so many wishlists written down that I’m constantly adding to AND crossing off. From clothing, to handbags, skincare, trips I want to take, hobbies I’d like to try….just all the lists! I get a real sense of accomplishment when I work toward something and am able to put a check mark beside it. I also loved doing this post because it really helped me stay focused and intenional about my purchases. It was a great accountability guide and I ended up actually getting several things for our home from last year’s list including the Louis Phillpe Mirror, Vertigo Pendant, Lolly Lolly mug, and Ficus Audrey! I’m excited to share with you what Ive got my eye on this year so lets get to it..
Frame TV-
I’ve been in love with the Frame TV since I first laid eyes on it. As a designer I LOOOOOOOOVE the aesthetics and the way it seamlessly integrates into a space. It’s taken me a while to get Naomi on board, but now that she is I’m so excited to make this happen this year. I think its going to look especially great with all the changes we’ve made with the living room makeover. I’m most excited to really explore the art library and select some good ones to display. My good friend, Dabito, uses the Frame in almost every project and it just gets me every time. He sings the Frame TV gospel to me and has been trying to convince me to get one for a while now. The Frame TV (and Dab!) is honestly the only thing that makes me want to integrate a gallery wall into our space!
Burlwood Console Table-
Ok so I know I had a burlwood media cabinet on the list last year, but that didn’t happen soooo I’m putting burl back on the list again this year. I will not stop until I have some burlwood in my house again. Yup…again! I wrote a whole post about my immediate regret after letting go of a burlwood coffee table a few years ago. It forever haunts me. And since I went in a different direction with the media console I figure I can focus that burlwood energy toward a entry console table. I really really dig this one:
Peloton Bike-
Nope your eyes do not deceive you, lol. You definitley just read me say I have a piece of exercise equipment on my wishlist. Lisssten I know I swore off all strenuous workouts and running when I got out of the military, but the #pandemicpounds are real and I’ve got a milestone birthday this year, so after 2 years of not being as active as I used to be it’s time for me to start moving again. The truth is I hate working out. Hate it. I’ve always been an active person and I relied heavily on that and genetics to keep me looking and feeling my best. When the pandemic put a halt to my routine of hitting the ground running the second I wake up it really did a number on my body and overall health. Also ya girl is getting older so my body doesnt bounce back like it did in my 20’s or even early 30’s. I like that Peloton offers so many guided workout options since I’ve also been wanting to take both barre and pilates classes. With Peloton I get to experience all the things and not have to go into a gym. Naomi and I recently visited a Peloton store and were really impressed. It was the first time Naomi ever even considered one. The plan is to place it in my office once it’s built since we dont have a space for it in the house.
Art-
This is another one what was on the list last year, and honestly will continue to always been an aspiration and goal. I started my collection in 2021 and was able to invest in some beautiful works by black and POC artists, and plan to continue to do so for years to come. I recently ordered a really gorgeous print that I can’t wait to get hung.
Senufo Stool (or 2)-
I’ve wanted a pair of Senufo stools for AGES and I think this will be the year I pull the trigger. I see them a lot, but I’m being super selective about where/from whom I purchase. I have a relationship with one of the vendors at my local monthly flea market and I’m really hoping to purchase from him. I told him what Im looking for and he said he will get some in for me to take a look at. Everytime I see one I just fall deeper and deeper in love. Bestie has some and it’s hard not to try to sneak one home with me on the plane when I go visit.
Luggage & Luxury Travel Bags
Soooo I know outside is still kinda closed, but it’s opening up more and more each day. International travel is especially starting to pick back up and let me tell you, your girl is ready to fly out to somebody’s country. I’m soooo ready to travel again and I figure while things are still a little slower I should go ahead and upgrade our luggage situation. Im trying to be ready so I dont have to get ready if you catch my drift! We’ve had our luggage for many years now and it’s ok, but its starting to show its age and I’m ready to elevate our travel experience in that department. A while ago (at least a year ago now) I asked for recommendations on IG about luggage and SO MANY came pouring in. After a good long bit of research Naomi and I both are really loving Monos, Away (now that there’s new leadership at the helm), Paravel (super eco-conscious & sustainable), Rimowa, and Bric’s.
On the same vein in additon to new roller luggage for the house I really want to start my Louis Vuitton travel bag collection. I’ve had my eye on the Keepall Bandouliere 55 for a couple years now. I gifted Naomi the Keepall 45 for Christmas a few years ago and she loves it as an overnight bag and a carry on. She’s much more minimal than I am in terms of packing so the 45 is a good size for her to fit the essentials. I would definitly need to go with the 55. I also have my heart set on a piece of rolling luggage one day as well. I have a couple friends that own it and swear the cost is in line with the quality and use.
Alfa Outdoor Pizza Oven-
Gimme wood fired pizza every. single. time friends. It’s my fave. We’ve started doing homemade pizzas quite a bit recently since I found a really good crust and sauce (i add marjoram to mine) recipe. We find that we even prefer making pizzas at home to ordering take out nowadays. Since Im pretty sure this will be a mainstay in our home I’d love to level up our pizza making game with an outdoor wood fired pizza oven. Our new Ilve oven makes AMAZING pizza and even has a dedicated pizza setting, but there’s nothing like the taste of a crispy wood fired pizza. It’ll also really elevate out outdoor living experience and really just be the cherry on top of our new son-to-be backyard paradise. I’ve done a ton of research and have settled on Alfa brand.
Mauviel and Vintage Copper Pots-
Mauviel was also a repeat from last year and I’m happily bringing it back over to this year. With the kitchen renovation complete I’m now seriously looking into investing in adding to my copper pot collection and Mauviel is the dream. Just like with art, building my copper collection will take time and be an ongoing process. I also FINALLY got my hands on some vintage copper from Cat in France and am hoping for a couple more pieces, including a tall pasta/stock pot as well as an au gratin dish. I also constantly scour Etsy for great French copper too.
Carriage Garage Door-
I feel like I’ve reached peak adulting by having a garage door on my list, but alas, here we are. Ya’ll. I want a carriage garage goor so baaaad. They are beautiful, classic and just perfect for thecottagebungalow. The plan was always to upgrade the garage doors at some point after we had the house painted a few years ago. Our current garage door was a bit worse for wear so giving it a fresh coat of black paint has been a great affordable solution to tide us over until we are ready to invest in a new one. You’d be surprised how much of a difference a garade door has on a house. ANNNDDD they actually affect resale pretty massively. I go and browse the Real Carriage Doors site often just because. The good looks come at a pretty hefty pricetag , though, so it’s definitley an investment. But, one I think will be wortth it both for aesthtics and overall value.
OK friends! That’ll do it. There’s my list of things I’m coveting for our home and have prioritized as far as purchases for the year. I’d love to hear if you have any items on your home wishlist. Sound off in the comments. And make sure you head over to Carmeon’s and see what she’s lusting after. I’ll meet you over there because I have no idea what her list is yet!
Until next time friends….

I stumbled on your IG sometime in the last year. Linked to your blog today. I am immensely enjoying your style and esthetic. It’s like being in a beautiful museum with the best comfort food all on perfect day.

Hi Shavonda, I can’t wait to see what you decide on for luggage. I’m soooo ready to start traveling for leisure again. I just started a new job after having my first baby that will have me on the road for work again and was thinking of treating myself to a new set as well! Will you be sharing some comparisons?
Sara says
Hey Shavonda! You may have already considered this, but wanted to plug the Peloton app until your office space is ready for the full bike (or tread) set up! I love the barre & yoga classes they offer. I also use the app with a non-Peloton spin bike, but maybe once we’re done paying for daycare one day we’ll upgrade for the full experience… hah.
Looking forward to following & seeing how 2022 unfolds for you! Be well. 🙂

Question about the garage doors. They are SO beautiful! Are they still motorized like regular garage doors?
Shavonda Gardner says
