Hi Everyone!
This little old bungalow has taught me so much, most of which being things that I never had exposure to in our previous house..like living with hardwoods. I love them. Beyond love them. They make life with two little humans and a K9 who thinks she a human super easy when compared to the wall to wall carpet in every room situation of out last house. This was the main reason I was adamant about finding a home with no carpeting when we began our downsizing journey. Fast forward 3 months and I seriously have no idea how we ever lived without them.
After shelling out $1800 to have them refinished, I am especially intentional with their care…or so I thought. I’ve been living in a fool’s paradise over here guys. As much as I absolutely love the jute rug in our living room, it never occurred to me that I was missing a major component to the décor puzzle until this….
Ugh yeah. Go ahead and judge. I’m completely fine with it because that my dears is literally a hot mess. Lurking under my rugs was all the dirt and dust that seeped through its natural fibers. I was cleaning and sweeping, and vacuuming so much to keep it at bay, but ummm yeah #aintnobodygottimeforthat. It was time for me to come up with a solution rather than bandage the issue. Enter Rug Pad Corner.
They contacted me just as I had begun looking into rug pad options. Honestly I was just going to go out and get one of the inexpensive beige rubber ones that are sold pretty much everywhere. Boy was gonna be heading back for a refund! Rug Pad Corner had the exact product I needed in the Superior felt pad. It provides impenetrable protection from dust, dirt and fibers, and the soft felt is really gentle on our floors.
Since the rugs are anchored by our living room furniture in this space, we didn’t need non-slip backing on the rug pad. This wasn’t the case for the flat weave rug in our sons room, so we opted for the Ultra Premium pad in his space. In this case I wasn’t so much concerned with keeping under the rug clean, but rather with keeping it from playing the slip n slide game all the time. The rubber backing helps keep it in place, which is key for a busy 7 year old when hes playing with his cars and rollercoasters.
Its been a couple of weeks since I put them under the rugs and they are seriously awesome. An added bonus is the jute rug has also kept its shape since I incorporated the pad. It never bothered me before that it would move and stretch a bit with the daily traffic, but its worth mentioning that I’ve noticed since I put the pad under its stayed perfectly in place.
Also worth mentioning is that Rug Pad Corner rug pads are all eco-friendly, and contain no chemicals, glues, or other adhesives. They have no scent, don’t off gas, and can be used on any floor as they wont stain, or discolor the surface, which is crucial with hardwoods. Especially when they are original, and recently refinished. #justsayin.

Until next time…

Ugh, I did this at our first house. We had dark hardwood flooring and it was a total mess when I picked up the rug. I also learned cheap padding sticks to your flooring and creates an additional mess. Good padding is the answer. Another thing I learned was to put pads on chair legs in the dining room. Certainly I have also learned a lot from experience!

Good Morning:
I had read some comments from various websites about the need for a rug pad as I was purchasing my area rug for the living room, so I purchased a rug pad at the same time. I just did not want to take the chance of damaging the floors.
Sorry I can’t make any helpful comments reference he 2 sofa choices, my personal style would be more the Pottery Barn large sofa’s with the back cushion design. I like to lay on the sofa when I’m watching TV or on the PC.
Love how you new home is coming along.

I grew up in a 1700’s farmhouse that had the most beautiful hardwood floors. Someday when I have enough money to buy a house you know it’s going to be wall to wall wide board hardwood 🙂
