Hi Everyone!
Happy Monday loves. Hope you all had an amazing weekend. So on Friday this happened
EEEEk! That’s right, those would be closing docs. We are sooooooooo close to being the official owners of the cottage bungalow.
Here in CA, unlike some states, we don’t get keys when we sign. We have a bit of a waiting period. Docs have to go back to lenders to be reviewed, the forces that be ensure there hasn’t been any funky liens placed on the property and no title issues have come up during the escrow process, funds get verified, titles get transferred, the property records with the county, THEN we get keys. It all adds up to extra time that’s agony for both buyers and sellers, BUT it protects us from issues no one wants to have to deal with. Plus, this all happens within a matter of a couple days so its not that bad, I guess. Hopefully we will get keys by Thursday. Which will be just in time for us to head out of town on Thursday night! I’m kinda crossing my body parts for a little miracle in the form of our realtor showing up at our doorstep on Wednesday night with keys….(hint hint) Jenine, I know you’re reading this:)
Anyway, its exciting to be in the final stretch of the race. All the months of selling, and searching, and offers, and contracts, and inspections will soon be behind us. We’ll be basking in the joys of old home ownership before we know it. I’m kinda freaking out a little though, guys. I’ve wanted my whole life to live in a little old house and its actually about to happen. The issue with that is I’ve only ever LIVED in bigger new houses! The challenges that come with uneven floors, wonky walls, and questionable electrical are foreign to me. Thank goodness for Google and YouTube. I have a feeling we’re about to be besties!
With all the excitement I’ve been doing what any self-respecting blogger/designer would be…inspiration gathering, of course! I created a Pin-Board for the bungalow and have been pinning away at inspiring spaces and details.
Ill be using it as a place to keep all my ideas in one collective space. You can also follow along on #ourdownsizingjourney and all #thecottagebungalow shenanigans on IG and Twitter (@ahomefullofcolor) . I share lots of day to day happenings there that don’t always make it on the blog.
T Minus 4 days my loves! I cant wait. Until next time..

You’re going to love living small. I downsized over a year ago and I can’t believe how it’s changed us as a family. Congrats on the new digs!

Hurray! Can’t wait to follow along on your adventure. We’re gearing up to move into our 320 square foot apartment and I need all the inspiration I can get to live large while living small. 😉

Yay! Only a few days away! I wish it would become standard practice that they would look into things more before the title gets changed. The house next door to my parents just got sold and it had a lien against it that the new buyers didn’t know about…all kinds of trouble. I bet your so anxious though! Huge congrats and if you ever have any wonky wall, uneven floor, old house questions I would be happy to help…welcome to the club!
